Review: Teng Bespoke Vegetarian Dining

Another long overdue review.
Japanese vegan food is hard to come by so I'm glad Teng does it well! I ate at Teng Bespoke Vegetarian on my birthday this year in July and again last week. Both times I really enjoyed the food. Teng has two stores within Sunshine plaza. The one further inside the building is larger.
This is the smaller one.
As you can see they have a really wide menu!
I was really excited to try the unagi maki ($15) because other reviews made it sound damn good. And it didn't disappoint! The unagi is crispy and is lined with seaweed to add a sort of fishiness to it. Really enjoyed it but the unagi falls off the rice easily.
My dad ordered green tea, california temaki ($5) and cold tofu w/ seaweed sauce ($6). I find these items rather ahem, over priced.
Cold green tea soba ($10)
Mix vegetable w/ tofu hot plate ($12)
The pieces of mock sashimi used in the 5 kind sushi ($11) kept falling of the rice so it was hard to pick up. The sashimi tastes like fishcake.
The sets are really value for money! Featured above is the green tea soba set ($19), which my brother ordered. It comes with a non vegan pudding for dessert.
I ordered the kaki udon ($10) and it was really yummy and not too salty! I wish there were more green veggies though...
Last week I visited Teng again with my friend Alphonsine (@thevegancut)!
Buckwheat noodles set ($19) and salmon maki ($15)
We swapped the pudding in the set for a salad. Apparently, everything there is vegan, even the mayo, except for the pudding that comes with the sets! The staff there are pretty friendly so you can double check with them if you want to.
The salad came with too much dressing and it was really salty >< Apart from that everything was delicious. I loved the salmon maki. It has so many flavours and textures going on with the mock salmon, the avocado, the mayo and the crunchy bits on top. The mock deep fried pork chop is very nice too!! I find that the green tea soba, buckwheat noodles and the kaki udon all taste the same and the only difference is the type of noodles used. These are the only 3 hot noodle soup dishes on the menu. It would be nice if Teng Bespoke could add a little more variation between the 3 dishes.
