Review: Loving Hut

Thursday, June 11, 2015

I visited Loving Hut for the second time the other day with a friend after school (-: Loving Hut is an international chain of vegan restaurants. I love the food they serve because apart from the usual western stuff, they have some local foods like mee pok, nasi campur, nasi lemak, wanton, and more. That's what sets Loving Hut apart from the other vegan restaurants!

Loving Hut has a very wide menu in my opinion! You can check it out here

The restaurant is quite big. You can sit indoors or outdoors but it was pretty hot that day so we chose to sit inside ^^

This is their soya bandung! I haven't had bandung in so many years, I literally can't remember the last time I had it! It tasted pretty authentic and brought me back to my childhood. Bandung was a favourite of mine as a kid hehe. Anyway I really liked their version of bandung! It wasn't too sweet too. My friend ordered a fresh young coconut!

The otah oleh sandwich! I was expecting more :( The "otah" was a little to hard and it wasn't a smooth custardy texture like otah is meant to be. Also they could've used more spices as the flavour was really lacking. The unbleached ciabatta bread was very good though!

I was trying to figure out what the otak was made off. Until now, I still don't really know.

The inside was toasted, which was a nice touch. You can see how different the texture of this otah is to the real kind. Overall this wasn't bad but the otah has lots of room for improvement I guess.

My friend ordered lasagna upon my recommendation :P I ordered this the first time I ate here and I loved it, and so did she after trying it. This was actually her first time eating lasagna. The previous time I ordered this, the sauce around it was tomato sauce, not this cream looking sauce! Loving Hut's lasagna is super tasty AND it's also one of their healthier choice options! It's packed with a variety of vegetables and is really worth the money. I'm craving this now haha.

So for dessert we decided to try the mint chocolate cheese pie. IT WAS AMAZING. It consisted of a light and creamy mint layer, a chocolate layer and the bulk of it was a cheesecake flavoured ice cream layer! The crust of the pie tasted like graham crackers. The chocolate layer doesn't look a lot but it's the perfect amount because the chocolate flavour is quite strong (: And the "cheese" layer really really tastes cheesy! This was so refreshing on that hot day! I think the mint cream layer could be just a little mintier though. I strongly suggest giving this dessert a try if you happen to drop by Loving Hut.
