Are IKEA's new vegan meatballs worth the hype?
Friday, September 11, 2015
Hey everyone! Super excited to be sharing this new discovery --- vegan meatballs from Ikea! Although my friend says they should be called vegetable balls because these aren't your typical vegetarian, mock meat, meatballs. Anyway that's what Ikea calls them on their packaging.
They're jam packed with vegetables and are mostly made with legit plant food and not some suspicious chemical stuff. YAY. The ingredients are as follows: Chickpea (18%), green pea (14%), carrot (14%), red bell pepper (14%), maize (14%), kale (10%), pea protein, onion(3%), rapeseed oil, pea starch, salt, brown sugar, thickener, flavouring, spices, and herbs.

By replacing cow carcass with vegetables, Ikea's new vegan meatballs are better for your health, the animals and the planet! However I wish they were lower in sodium.
Pronounced: groants-ask-boolar
I could smell them when I opened the package and they smelt good hahaha
Served with spaghetti of course.
They taste great! So far the reviews and comments I've read on these meatballs have been positive. And my omnivore parents like them as well. These are softer than the regular meatball, so I don't recommend leaving them sitting in pasta sauce for too long. Just put them in the sauce when you want to eat.
I wouldn't eat them all the time since theres salt and oil, but as a whole these seem quite healthy to me. I think its a good snack for kids to get them to eat veggies haha.
Overall this a good product and I'm really glad Ikea has introduced these to the market. These are totally worth the hype since it's a stepping stone towards making veganism mainstream! If you're vegan or vegetarian, go visit Ikea to show your support for the new GRÖNSAKSBULLAR (They sell them in the food hall as well as the restaurant.) :D
Thanks for reading! Hopefully when my exams are over this space will get out of the food reviews phase its currently in. Keyword: phase.
