Average price: $10 - $15
Type: Vegetarian, mostly vegan
Address: The Commerze @ Irving

The boneless kitchen in a vegetarian Korean restaurant that's almost entirely vegan. It's the only establishment I know of in Singapore that specializes in Korean vegan food! I've visited them twice now and I really enjoyed the meal both times.

They're conveniently located near Taiseng MRT on the circle line. Food here ends up being around $10-$15 per person depending on your appetite. Their full menu + prices are available here

Dolsot Bibimbap ($9.90), Kimchi Jeon ($3.90), Tteokbbokki ($3.90)

The first time I was here I ordered the bibimbap because it seemed like a really healthy option. I didn't expect it to be THAT good. Oh but it was. The bibimbap arrived sizzling in a hot stone pot with seaweed, sesame, and a nice dollop of gochujang (Korean hot pepper paste) on top. I proceeded to mix it up (felt like I was frying the rice) and it turned it to a beautiful, tasty, mess of rice and veggies. When eating this I recommend not overmixing so as to allow the bottom of the rice to get nice and crispy, well if you like that kinda thing, which I certainly do :D Overall this is one of my favourite dishes from The Boneless Kitchen. The only problem I have with this dish is the serving of gochujang was a little too much for me. Do note that if you can't take spicy food you should tell them to maybe serve the pepper paste on the side so you can choose how much to add in yourself.

Jajangmyeon ($10.90), Kimchi Mandu ($3.90)

Next up jajangmyeon! Before visiting The Boneless Kitchen I had never tasted jajangmyeon ever, vegan or non-vegan. I was so excited to try this, especially after watching mommy tang's mukbang videos on YouTube. I honestly expected so much more from this dish and I wanted to love it, but the flavour just wasn't very special? It didn't taste bad, don't get me wrong, but it was sort of plain. This isn't something I'd order again. However I did really love the texture of the noodles! They were really springy hehe. I would prefer more ingredients but I think maybe this is how jajangmyeon is supposed to be. If you're a jajangmyeon fan you should probably still try this! Also the serving size for this is huge.

Kimchi Bokkeumbap ($9.90)

Another highly recommended dish is the kimchi fried rice! It came with mock pieces of ham, fresh veggies and seaweed. The 'wok hei' flavour was quite prominent, a sign of an excellent fried rice! Wok Hei is a unique flavour that is created when stir-frying in a wok over very high heat.

Kimchi Jjigae with ramen noodles ($9.90)
The kimchi stew with ramen noodles was really yummy too! It was served with tofu, enoki mushrooms, and other kinds of veggies.

Kimchi Jeon ($3.90)
On to the side dishes! The kimchi pancakes are not something I'd recommend. I could hardly taste any kimchi and it was deep fried too. So not worth the calories? I found this to be the same with the kimchi mandu. The tteokbboki was average, I don't think there was anything wrong with it I guess it just isn't my thing.

Overall I do reccomend visiting The Boneless Kitchen not only because they're the only vegetarian Korean place here but also because of the really cozy environment (you can sit on the floor! on fruit cushions!), affordable prices, generous serving size and the fact that they've managed to create vegan versions of classic korean dishes without a heavy reliance on fake meats. Also they've clearly labelled on the menu what isn't vegan which is super convenient :-)
