Brownice Italian Bistro has always been one of my go-to restaurants to bring non-vegans. A couple of you may remember I did a review of them when they first opened last year. This year Brownice Italian Bistro was closed for a period of time and finally reopened with a fresh new look and menu. I decided to celebrate my birthday at Brownice 2.0 a few weeks back so today I'll be doing an updated review. Previous review here.

The folks over at Brownice have done some rearranging and the restaurant is now less cramped then before. They've added some cute pictures on to the wall at the back too.
Their menu hasn't changed all that much but the way which they prepare the dishes has for sure.
If you like fries be sure to try out their truffle fries. They were perfectly cooked and the parmesan cheese grated over top really made this taste amazing.
The arancini were presented beautifully on a pool of creamy tomato sauce, and topped with grated "cheese". I actually wasn't too impressed with this dish. I expected the filling to be more creamy given that it's supposed to be like risotto.
The Brownice lasagna is now less legit then before. It was the kind of thing you wouldn't be able to tell was vegan if you weren't told. There was more soy minced meat and less veggies, and it used to have the crispy edges of cheese that regular lasagna has. However the new lasagna has the addition of eggplant which I love, and overall this is still a really really tasty rendition of lasagna :)
Ever since my first bite of the BBQ chicken pizza quite some time ago, it's been on my list of must try dishes at brownice! I've ordered it almost every time I've visited. It is essentially a thin crust pizza topped with mock chicken, olives, pineapple, barbecue sauce, and lotsa vegan cheese! I love it and so do all my non vegan friends and family :-)
I don't recommend the creamy mushroom penne. It tasted quite meh and wasn't memorable.
I think ordering the ice cream scoops are more worth it than the ice cream cake (and easier to eat too!) but how could we have a birthday celebration without cake? We ordered two slices of cake: hazelnut chocolate and coconut gula melaka and they were both really delicious!
I didn't mention the waffles in this post but they are amazing :D If you haven't yet visited brownice I highly suggest you get your butt there quickly, especially if you've got a thing for pizza, pasta, waffles and ice cream!
